A holistic clinical approach grounded in scientific foundations, ethical principles and the person's own unique life story.
Clinical Psychologist Berrak Öcel completed her academic training in Türkiye and Italy. She is a mental health professional who practises clinical psychology with a holistic understanding grounded in scientific foundations, ethical principles and the person's own unique life story.
She completed her BSc in Psychology — taught 100% in English at Izmir University of Economics — graduating second in her department. In line with her high academic achievement, she was awarded the High Honour distinction, an Outstanding Achievement Award and an Academic Merit Scholarship.
After completing her undergraduate studies, she continued her academic and clinical development at an international level, gaining admission to the Applied Dynamic and Clinical Psychology (LM-51) master's programme — taught 100% in English — at Sapienza University of Rome, one of Europe's largest and most established public universities. She was admitted to this highly selective programme, which accepts a limited number of students from applicants worldwide, ranking among the top candidates, and her academic achievement was supported by a state scholarship in Italy.
Throughout her master's studies in Rome, she received advanced academic training in clinical psychology, psychodynamic approaches, psychopathology, psychological assessment, attachment styles, developmental processes and research methods.
In her master's thesis, she examined the relationships between childhood trauma, anxious attachment, emotion regulation and the anxiety experienced during romantic relationships. This thesis forms an important part of her academic interest in how past experiences affect close relationships, emotional responses and psychological well-being in adulthood.
As part of her professional experience in Rome, she also worked on international and European Union-funded psychology-based social inclusion projects. Her involvement in project development, psychosocial work, client monitoring and evaluation, stakeholder coordination and community well-being-focused work helped her develop her clinical perspective not only at an individual level but also within a social and cultural context. In addition, she played an active role in psychological support processes for migrants.
Today, she concentrates her work particularly on areas such as depression, anxiety and intense worry, relationship problems, anxious attachment, childhood trauma, panic attacks, family and interpersonal relationship difficulties, emotion regulation difficulties, self-esteem, burnout and migration psychology.
In the therapy process, she places importance not only on reducing symptoms, but also on understanding the emotional patterns, past experiences, relational styles and recurring thought and behaviour cycles that underlie the person's difficulties. With the understanding that each client's needs, life story and therapy goals are different, she aims to create a work process tailored to the individual.
In her online psychological counselling and therapy work, conducted in Turkish and English, she is committed to creating a safe, professional space — structured within ethical boundaries — where clients can express themselves without being judged.
By bringing together scientific psychological knowledge, current research and clinical practice, our mission is to help individuals not merely relieve their difficulties temporarily, but understand more deeply the patterns of emotion, thought, relationship and behaviour that underlie those difficulties, develop awareness of them and support their process of change. We aim to offer psychological support that is ethically grounded, science-based, mindful of confidentiality and sensitive to individual differences.
Our vision is to establish a trustworthy understanding of psychological support that unites academic competence, international education experience, ethical responsibility and a scientific approach. We aim to make widespread an approach in which Turkish- and English-speaking individuals living in Türkiye and in different countries around the world can access quality psychological support independent of geographical borders — and in which mental health is seen not only during periods of crisis, but as a natural part of coming to understand oneself.
