Online therapy for adults with a science-based, ethical and personalised approach. Sessions can be held in Turkish or English; the process is structured individually according to the client's needs and goals.
Individual online therapy is an individual counselling process that allows a person to address emotional, relational or psychological difficulties in a safe and professional therapy setting. The process aims not only to reduce current symptoms, but also to understand the patterns of emotion, thought and behaviour that may be associated with those symptoms, along with past experiences and interpersonal relationship dynamics. Its main areas of focus include anxiety and intense worry, depression, panic attacks and panic disorder, relationship problems, anxious attachment, fear of abandonment, childhood trauma, family and interpersonal relationship difficulties, addiction and behavioural addictions, emotion regulation difficulties, self-esteem problems, stress and burnout.
Romantic relationships are one of the key areas in which a person's past experiences, attachment patterns and emotional needs can become visible. Fear of abandonment, an intense need for reassurance, jealousy, trust issues, over-analysing a partner's behaviour, separation anxiety, difficulty setting healthy boundaries and recurring relationship cycles can all be addressed within individual therapy. In this process, alongside current relational difficulties, we work on understanding the attachment patterns that may be linked to them, past relationship experiences and the emotional dynamics carried over from childhood.
Constant worry, thoughts that are hard to control, intense anxiety about the future, difficulty tolerating uncertainty and physical anxiety symptoms can affect a person's daily life, relationships and functioning. In the therapy process, we work on understanding the patterns of thought, emotion and behaviour that trigger and sustain anxiety, and on helping the person cope with anxiety in a more functional way. In addition, the links between anxiety and the person's past experiences, relational patterns and emotional world can be assessed on an individual basis.
A panic attack is an experience in which intense fear may be accompanied by symptoms such as heart palpitations, shortness of breath, chest tightness, dizziness, trembling, and an intense fear of losing control or that something bad is about to happen. Recurring panic attacks and the fear of experiencing another attack can, over time, lead a person to avoid certain environments or activities and to restrict their daily life. In the therapy process, the aim is to understand the cycle between the thoughts, bodily sensations and behaviours that sustain panic symptoms, and to address threat interpretations of bodily sensations and avoidance behaviours.
Depression is not simply about feeling sad. It can manifest through a range of symptoms such as loss of drive, a loss of interest or pleasure in activities that were previously enjoyable, reduced energy, changes in sleep and appetite, difficulty concentrating, thoughts of worthlessness or guilt, hopelessness and social withdrawal. In the therapy process, we work on understanding the patterns of thought, emotion and behaviour associated with depressive symptoms and on assessing the areas of daily life from which the person has withdrawn. At the same time, the connections between the depressive experience and the person's past experiences, experiences of loss and separation, self-image and relational patterns can also be addressed.
Addiction is not limited to substance use. Some behaviours can also turn into patterns that a person struggles to control, become repetitive and cause significant problems in daily life. Difficulties related to substance use, gambling behaviour, problematic shopping behaviour and other repetitive behaviours that are hard to control can be assessed within individual therapy. In the therapy process, we work on becoming aware of the situations, urges, thoughts and emotions that trigger the behaviour; understanding the function the behaviour serves in the person's life; and developing more functional ways of coping. When necessary, a multidisciplinary assessment and referral process with psychiatry and other health professionals is important.
Difficult experiences during childhood and adolescence can affect the relationships a person forms with themselves and with others in adulthood. The possible effects of these experiences on self-esteem, a sense of trust, close relationships, attachment patterns, emotion regulation and a person's perception of themselves can be addressed in the therapy process. The aim is not only to talk about what happened in the past, but to understand the connections between past experiences and the patterns of emotion, thought and relationship maintained in the present.
Moving to a new country is not only a physical change of location. Adapting to a new culture can create significant changes in a person's social environment, sense of belonging, relationships and daily life. In therapy carried out with individuals living abroad, topics such as difficulties with cultural adjustment, loneliness, issues of belonging, being far from one's social support system, stress and anxiety related to the migration process, relational difficulties and adapting to a new way of life can be addressed. Turkish clients living abroad can continue their psychological support process in their own native language, regardless of the country they live in.
Therapy sessions are also conducted in English. Clinical Psychologist Berrak Öcel, who completed her academic training in 100% English programmes in Türkiye and Italy, offers online psychological counselling and therapy for adult clients who prefer to carry out the therapy process in English. This service is intended for adult clients living in different countries or who prefer to conduct the therapy process in English.
All sessions are grounded in confidentiality, ethical principles and the client's individual needs.
We assess the client's reason for seeking therapy, their current needs, the difficulties they are experiencing and their expectations of the therapy process.
Subsequent sessions are structured individually in line with the client's needs and therapy goals.
Since the duration of therapy and the frequency of sessions can vary from person to person, the process is assessed individually.
If you're not sure which service is right for you, you can message the WhatsApp line and we can figure it out together.
